Hello there! I’m Stephanie, the voice behind The Northern Creative. I live in Minnesota with my 2 lovely and spunky little girls and my wonderful husband. The long, cold winters here provide me with plenty of opportunities to stay inside and get in touch with my crafty side! While my girls nap, you can usually find me in my craft room whipping something up with my Silhouette Cameo or hammering away at my computer to create fun graphic designs. I started this blog as a way to share my DIY craft projects, home decor ideas, and printables in hopes of inspiring you to make beautiful and thoughtful creations for your family, friends, and home.
I remember taking a sewing class in high school. We were required to take some sort of art class and since my drawing skills are pretty lame, I decided to try out the clothing making class. Our first project was creating a drawstring bag to hold all of our sewing tools. I felt so accomplished when I finished that little bag! I had created something functional and cute with my own two hands. As we tried more complicated projects throughout the year, it was even more rewarding to create a final product that I wasn’t even sure I was capable of making. After that class, I was hooked on creating my own crafts.
My love for creating vamped up even more after I had kids. I love to make holidays, birthdays, and little occasions magical for them by creating fun outfits, decorations, and printables. After all, our kids are only little for a little while, we should make the most of their childhood!
I love the sense of joy and satisfaction you get from creating something on your own, whether it be a DIY version of a store-bought item, something you’ve sewn, or simply a new arrangement of your home decor. There’s just something about seeing the final results of all your creative planning and effort that is so fulfilling. This feeling is amplified when you give your creation as a gift. The sound of my girls squealing when I embellish a new dress for them is priceless. I want to inspire you to start a project that makes you giddy when you are done.
Please take a look around. I hope you find some projects to get your creative wheels turning.
I’d love to see what projects you are working on! Feel free to comment on any of my posts here or reach out on Facebook or Instagram. If you’ve completed a project from my blog, please share pics with me so I can feature you here.
Happy crafting!
Xoxo,
Stephanie
